First, here are the criteria to use when creating a strong password:
- Use an eight character (at least eight) word you will remember
- No pet names, no family names, no birthdays, nothing personal
- Use at least one capital letter
- Use at least one lower case letter
- Use at least one number
Now that you have your word picked out it is simply a matter of substituting numbers (and special characters) for letters in the word. The image shown is an example. The word PASSWORD has several numbers substituted for letters so that
The A becomes 4, the S becomes 5, and the O becomes 0 (zero). Keep in mind this password does not have a lower case letter, but it would be very simple to make the first letter or the last letter lower case.
Remember this little trick and password security becomes much less daunting.
